Who Am I?

I’m Robert Franklin, retired lawyer and long-time activist for family court reform.  Over almost 13 years, I’ve written some 3.5 million words in favor of children’s rights to both parents when the adults divorce, of the need to reform adoption law and child welfare agencies, acknowledge the form of child abuse called parental alienation, and end the crime of paternity fraud.  I’ve published those words in blog form and in op-eds in publications like the Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle, The Hill, the Toledo Blade and countless others.  I’ve appeared on radio talk shows from coast to coast and spoken to numerous groups seeking reform of family laws.  I’ve been happily married for over 31 years.

I’m neither a Democrat nor a Republican.  I used to be a liberal, but the Left drove me away.  I am doctrinaire on no subject, but I’m well informed on a good number of them.  I do my best to follow where facts, logic and principle lead.  If I’m proven wrong, I change my mind, but I don’t abandon my conclusions easily; I worked hard to draw them.  I’m my own toughest critic, but you may have a point of view I haven’t considered, so I will listen.  Above all, I strive to “do my bit” to point us toward constructive policies and call out the dishonesty and cant that so dominate public discourse today.
